Downham Market Town Council
comprises 20 members, elected every four years.
The Council has four Committees:
Car Parks and Highways : Development : Finance and General Purposes: Planning and Environment
The Council owns and runs the Town Hall, Town Square, Market Place, Community Centre and Car Parks at the Hollies and the Old Fire Station.
It organises the Saint Winnolds Fair celebrations, Chinese New Year, Saint Georges Day and Halloween festivities, and plays a major part in the organisation of community events such as the River Festival and the Christmas Lighting Up Ceremony. The Town Council also runs regular events on the Town Square, frequent events in the Town Hall (including Craft Fairs and Cinema Screenings), our twice weekly (Friday and Saturday) Markets.
