Downham Market is a typical small friendly Norfolk country market town, situated approximately 130km north east of London in a pleasant rural area of East Anglia bordering the Fens.
The main A10 trunk road (2 lane highway) runs due north from Cambridge passing through the cathedral city of Ely, some 22km to the south of Downham Market, before reaching King's Lynn, approximately 15 km to the north of the Town, and nearby Sandringham, the Queen's Royal Estate a further 12km north.
